PPLF: Technical Support to ECCD

Our Values

- Child Rights & Women's Empowerment

- Compassion & Love

- Equity & Inclusion

- Resilience & Sustainability

Our History

The Pann Pyoe Lett Foundation (PPLF) was established in 2013 to honor the legacy of the late Mrs. Alice Mundhenk, who pioneered the introduction of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in Myanmar in 1997. After her passing, her colleagues—experienced ECCD trainers and experts in the Child-Centered Approach (CCA)—founded the Alice Early Childhood Resource Centre (AECRC) to carry forward her vision of child-focused education and development.

In 2015, to meet government registration requirements, AECRC transitioned to its Myanmar name, Pann Pyoe Lett Foundation, and was officially recognized as a non-governmental social organization in 2017 (Registration No. (Domestic)/0463). Since then, PPLF has continued to build on Mrs. Mundhenk’s principles, striving to address the gaps in early childhood education and resources across Myanmar.

From its earliest days, PPLF has focused on Early Childhood Care and Development, gradually expanding its efforts to include children’s rights and women’s empowerment. With decades of combined expertise, the foundation has developed children’s books, created low-cost teaching aids, trained ECCD instructors, and supported parents in fostering a nurturing learning environment.

Today, PPLF works closely with communities, government institutions, and international partners to ensure its programs are impactful and sustainable. Guided by a commitment to equity and resilience, the foundation continues to empower children and women by improving access to quality education, healthcare, and sustainable opportunities—creating pathways toward a brighter, more inclusive future.

Our Structure

The Pann Pyoe Lett Foundation (PPLF) is guided by its Board of Directors, supported by dedicated staff and a strong professional network across Myanmar. This structure ensures that PPLF remains accountable, effective, and mission-driven.

The Board of Directors is the main governing body, responsible for leading the organization in line with its vision, mission, and values. Their key responsibilities include strategic planning, financial and legal oversight, human resource management, and ensuring organizational sustainability. In addition to governance, Board members actively support operations by writing project proposals, guiding project implementation, facilitating workshops and training sessions, and engaging with private donors.

The Board consists of seven members (3 women and 4 men), with appointments renewed every two years. Most members have been volunteering since 2013, demonstrating their long-standing commitment to PPLF’s goals and values.

To strengthen local ownership and knowledge-sharing, PPLF coordinates a Regional ECCD Network of 20 members from Kachin, Kayah, Karen, and Northern Shan States. Beyond this, the foundation actively participates in National ECCD working groups and township-level partnerships, and has established a Township ECCD Network in Thabaung Township, further expanding its reach and collaboration.

The day-to-day work of the foundation is carried out by permanent staff and a technical team, who are responsible for implementing projects and ensuring that PPLF’s mission and objectives are translated into impactful, sustainable results for children and women across Myanmar.
